    Finally available on CD, "Disco Connection" is a very good album of instrumental Disco tracks which shows just how ahead of his time Isaac Hayes often was. In many ways, this rather obscure album proves that Isaac Hayes' lavish orchestrations, intricate arrangements and distinctive rhythm tracks truly played a key role in the development of 4/5(19).

    Don't hold the "disco" in the title against Isaac – because the album's still a pretty nice one, and by no means a cheap sell-out affair! The set was recorded in Memphis, with backings by the classic Movement combo – and although the tunes do have a "sweetened" sound that's clearly aimed at the clubs, there's actually some great instrumentation on the set that goes way past stock disco.

    From , ‘Disco Connection’ is an all-instrumental soul/disco album recorded at Hot Buttered Soul Studios in Memphis, Tennessee from Hayes’ backing band. There’s a broad mix of styles on show here, from the pacey, chase theme style of ‘Choppers’, the energetic and frantic ‘Disco Connection’ to the mellow mood ‘After Five’ and downtempo smoocher ‘Vikkyi’.

Here's how Hayes himself remembered his working method in the liner notes of the " Groove-a-Thon " CD re-issue in ; that album was virtually recorded at the same time of " Disco Connection ", and released just a few months.

    This great album is from and as far as I know has only been released on CD in Europe - and that was sourced from vinyl. It is not disco music but rather a set of instrumentals that are a mix.
